As recently as Tuesday, June 14, 2022, sirens sounded throughout Lincoln as strong, heavy thunderstorms causing large hail in the Seward area saw signs of a major rotation as it approached Lancaster County. The National Weather Service (TNWS) reportedly issued a tornado warning around 10:30 p.m. m., prompting emergency management officials to sound sirens throughout Lincoln after a few minutes.

Around 10:43 p.m. m., police tracking the storm reported a thunderstorm or tornado on the ground near Interstate 80 southwest, which is in Malcolm. At 10:56, the Lincoln area moved away from the whirlwind warning and at around 11:04 p.m. m., the whirlwind warning for northern Lancaster County has been lifted.

At the time of this writing, there were no instant reports of destruction or damage created by the storm or tornado, but police pointed to some evidence of debris along I-80 near Pleasant Dale, west of Lincoln. As the threat of whirlwinds diminished in the place called Lincoln, strong and heavy storms continued, with serious thunderstorm watches expanding from eastern Nebraska into the west and the Hastings area. Not only a strong tornado, but there were also many reports.

Observers noted that hail the size of ping pong balls covered the ground around 10:57 p.m. m. at Branched Oak Lake. After that, around 11:27 p.m. m., the weather reporting service uploaded a new tornado warning for Sarpy and Cass and resumes rotation within a recreated severe storm near Greenwood, where RVs were reported to have capsized.
